Meal Planning

Planning is the key to just about everything if you want a successful outcome. This is hard for me and probably you to do too. But, if we learn to plan our meals, it can help us when we go to the store, which can help keep our grocery bill more in line. It also helps with the “What am I going to make for dinner?” question that comes up all the time around dinner time. If you know what you are making ahead of time, it will actually save you time and help you eat healthier.

Meals Calendar

Below is my calendar that I try to keep updated with either what I want to make each day or what we actually had to eat. It is a good reference for me when meal planning so that I can copy and paste a meal that we like often. I have read about people who meal plan for the week or month and, although that seems like a great plan, in my world, that just doesn’t happen. In a lot of cases, when you click on the name of the dish, a popup will come up and it will have a little about the meal and a link to find it for yourself online if it’s from an online site. This helps me when I’m actually cooking so I don’t have to fiddle with trying to find the recipe again. If anything looks good to you, try it for yourself. You may have to step out of your comfort zone a bit, but over time, you’ll be flying right past the chips and frozen sections with all the processed meals without even thinking about it. (Well, sometimes it might be harder to look down the chip isle, but I find at least now I have the willpower not to turn the cart into that isle).
