Blue Zone Videos – 5 Zones in the World where People Live

During 2020 we seemed to have a lot of extra time on our hands to watch TV. Although John and I love to watch movies, we also like learning new things and educating ourselves on different topics ranging from self-improvement, spiritual, travel destinations, and nutrition, by watching documentaries or YouTube videos.

Documentaries We Watched

After watching the Blue Zones videos clips above, we searched for “Dan Buettner” on YouTube and found one of his talks. This then really got us interested and we wanted to dive in deeper and several other documentaries. So over quite a few months, we watched them and was getting more and more accepting of this type of lifestyle of eating. It sparked a lot of discussion and embracing the idea of not eating as much meat. At first, like most people, we couldn’t imagine not eating meat. I like my chicken and hamburgers. But, we dove in and the more we watched, the more we were leaning into the idea that this may be the best thing we will ever do to keep us healthy.

Each of the five doctors have their own focus on helping people avoid chronic diseases. They all basically say the same thing, but they dedicate their research to a particular area. Weight Loss- How Not to Diet – Dr. Michael Greger

So many of us know that we are overweight. And, we know that being overweight is, many times, the root issue of why people develop chronic diseases. So, why are we spending so much time and money trying to “Diet” and we know that so many times we fail. So, we are contantly on a “diet.” I’m thinking, if you spend your whole life “dieting” and doing away with lots of foods that are important, we are actually hurting ourselves more. Think about focusing on “Not Dieting” and learning how to eat to lose and keep off weight and eating all the foods that will help your body.

Dr. Greger really breaks down how a Plant-Based Diet can help you loose and keep off the weight. After this video my husband and I started to think of food differently. My husband lost quite a bit of weight and was also able to reduce his blood pressure medicine so far.
