Medical Records Purging / Facebook Test

My second post of the day? Wow. I am relaxing….

I have had a project on my mind for years that I started this afternoon. Since my second home has been the hospitals, my mother kept and therefore I continue to keep all the bills, explanation of benefits, test results, etc. that I have accumulated over the years. I also do this everybody in the family.

It has gotten someone out of control. When my mother passed away in 2010, my Dad and I waited three years to clean out the attic, basement, and basically the whole house. It was like a museum. If you wanted to know anything from the past, you could probably have found it. However, after the first day, I realized that it would be impossible to actually go through and re-read everything and I would probably keep too much paperwork if I did, so I had to throw almost all of it in the dumpster or shredder.

So, when I begin to look down in our own basement, I realize that I am somewhat like her and my children definitely don’t want to go through all that stuff after I am gone. This “retreat” time again is suppose to help me be a better person and change some of my habits that aren’t going to benefit me or other members in our family in the long run. I want them to find things that are important to them and beneficial to their lives in the future.

However, I do feel it is important to keep a history of your overall medical footprint so you know what you have had done and when. So, I started to purge the old explanation of benefits and bills, but am keeping any hospital visits or something major that may have happened in our families’ live. I started at 1997  and ended at 2002 for today. My goal now is to have a binder for each member of the family and to have those big events in chronological order from back to front for easier reference. Wonder who will end up with the most binders?

Also, because I am always wanting to learn more about computers, websites, and technology in general, this post is a trial to see if it actually links to my Facebook page automatically. Hope it works.
